Stila Convertible Color Review: Peony

There are both some positive and negative aspects of this product. I seriously love most things about this lip and cheek color, but there are also a couple of things that disappoint me. Let’s dig in more, shall we?

The details:

  • may be purchased at, Ulta, and Sephora
  • available in 10 different shades
  • $25 for .15 oz/ 4.25 g

What Stila says

Stila’s ingenious lipstick and blush-in-one proves to be irresistible.

This versatile favorite brightens cheeks and lips with creamy, translucent color. Tap onto cheeks and press onto lips. The sheer tint adds an inherent glow to the cheeks while lips bloom with fresh, radiant color.

A mini-mirrored compact makes touch ups on the go a snap.

Our two-in-one compact holds the key to easy, monochromatic makeup. A must-have in every Stila girl’s kit.

Here’s what I love:

The COLOR! I love the color on both my cheeks and my lips… and especially my cheeks! It’s a beautiful, neutral rosy shade that goes with everything.

I love the texture… it’s creamy, lightweight, and blends easily. I really enjoy cream products, and this is a lovely one.

I really like that this is a multi-use product! It’s great to carry around for touch-ups (which are needed…. but, more on that in a bit), as well as travel with.

Here are the disappointments for me:

This product is not long lasting. It fades within a couple hours of wear on me (about 3-4 hours)… and my skin is combination/dry during this winter season. I’m sure if you have oily skin, or problems with fading, this will hardly stay on your face at all! It’s frustrating because I love the color! Because I do love it so much, I don’t mind touching it up.

The other downside for me, is that it is a bit drying on my lips. This can be helped with lip balm and/or gloss to add in some moisture. But, wearing it alone really isn’t an option for me. There is nothing sexy about chapped lips!

Check out the photo below to see how it looks on my lips and my cheeks:

Here is how I like to apply this product:

As blusher- I tap my e.l.f. small stipple brush (a duo-fiber brush) in the product and then stipple it onto my cheeks. I LOVE this little brush to apply pretty much all cream products to my face!

As lip color- I just use my (*clean*) finger to tap it on my lips, directly from the pan. Since it’s a natural, light color, a lip brush isn’t totally necessary.

my rating- 3 stars

So, when it comes down to it, I would recommend this product to SOME people, but not everyone. This is great for anyone who has more normal to dry skin, and doesn’t mind touching it up a couple of times, or as needed, throughout the day. There are some stunning colors in this line, so you may just fall in love with a color as I did, and be willing to make it work! I have an eye on Gladiola, an amazing bright orange, and Poppy, a beautiful deep berry… oh, and also Sweet Pea, which is a bright pink!
