elf HD Under Eye Setting Powder Review
Here’s the low down:
- $3.00 for .04oz/1.2g (wait for a sale online, and you can get it for half the price!)
- available at eyeslipsface.com, Target, K-Mart, and anywhere else e.l.f. is sold
What does e.l.f. have to say about their product? Why, I’m glad you asked!
This light-diffusing powder camouflages fine lines, dark circles and imperfections, perfect for on camera or everyday wear. The silky powder adds a velvety finish ideal for wearing alone or setting in cream concealer. The Vitamin C & K infused formula helps to restore and strengthen skin for a revitalized appearance.”
Now, oddly enough, this powder actually does contain tiny purple glitter. The glitter is pretty sparse, and is not very noticeable when applied, so I’m not really bothered by it. But, it is there. I’m not sure why they felt the need to add the glitter in. It does not do anything to brighten the eyes, or help in any way… if anything, it will turn people off of this product.
When I go to apply the powder, I do my best to tap as much of the glitter off of my brush as I can. This technique definitely seems to help.
The powder itself is quite lovely. It definitely will set your concealer, as most any powder will, but it also gives the area a more soft-focus, perfected appearance. It just looks smoother and softer under the eyes after this is applied (just don’t apply too much or you’ll just look powdery… yuck).
In this photo, I have the setting powder under my right eye (your left) only. Please note that I do have concealer on as well. This powder is meant to set your concealer, not replace it. The powder in and of itself does not contain any sort of coverage.
I also wanted to be sure to check how this setting powder looks with a flash. Some powders like this can cause a white cast where ever they are applied. Looks like there aren’t any problems with the flash.
**Notice the concealer creasing under the eye (on your right) that does not have the setting powder compared to the one that does? Sweet, it’s working!
Overall, I do totally think that this is worth the price. Does it do everything e.l.f. claims it will? Na… but it has a beautiful, finely milled texture, and blends effortlessly under the eyes. Do I think this is a “must-have” product? Not necessarily. If you don’t have problems with your concealer creasing under your eyes, don’t wear concealer under your eyes, or just cannot be bothered with one more step, then go ahead and pass on this one.
I do plan to review the e.l.f. HD Setting Powder as well. As soon as I do, I’ll link that post here, so you can check it out if you’re interested! Just trying to be helpful. ;)
Thank you so much for coming by,
